BMUC supports UMCOR in the fight against COVID-19.
Just an update: Thank you to everyone who gave to our UMCOR efforts! Because of you we raised more than $2000 for COVID-19 relief. May we continue to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world!
The United Methodist Committee on Relief has established a fund to support efforts to combat COVID-19 and Berkeley Methodist United Church is asking for your help. We are asking you to help us raise at least $1000 toward this fund. If everyone who came to worship gave $20 over the next month – not $20 a week, just $20 – we could achieve this goal!
If you are not able to help us at this time, there will be other opportunities for you to help both now and in the future. But for those who are able, we would appreciate your help in this effort to fight this global pandemic. Just send in a check to BMUC in whatever amount is on your heart – $1 to $1,000,000 – and in the memo line put “UMCOR COVID-19” and your donation in full will go toward this fund.
As always, 100% of your donation goes to relief efforts. None of your donation goes to overhead costs. None.
How will UMCOR use these funds? Here is what they said on their website:
“Since the start of the novel coronavirus outbreak, UMCOR has been working with health boards, medical professionals, disaster management coordinators and faith leaders to prevent the further spread of this disease. Now it is clear that the impact of COVID-19 will be far-reaching and demands an even greater response. Through the UMCOR COVID-19 Response fund, grants will be rapidly released to equip partners to assist vulnerable populations around the world impacted by COVID-19, including racial/ethnic and indigenous communities in the United States. Grants from this fund will be disbursed quickly and efficiently to address health concerns, food insecurity, water and hygiene limitations and other pressing needs. Even as you shelter in place, you can be there for others. When you say “yes” to supporting the UMCOR COVID-19 Response, you will help bring God’s love to life for those who need it most.”
Could you make a donation on your own? Sure. But we are hoping that together as a community of faith, we will step out together and combine our funds so we can have an impact as a faith community. If you are able, please help us today. Thank you!
